The Changes in Skin Care Products with the Change of the Seasons

Fall is undeniably here you guys (officially 9/21!) I don’t know about you, but my skin has been screaming since I got my first notification that Starbucks had their Pumpkin Spice Latte out!

When the weather changes from summer to fall, there is a lot more happening than the fact that we now need to wear coats, boots, and of course grab our morning PSL! Now that we have hit September here in the PNW, the air is not just getting cooler but with that cooler temp, is also a loss in humidity which creates less “sebum” production (oil) then in turn can tend to make you feel more dry or “chapped/tight”. The warmer months tend to make the skin more oily, and the colder months tend to dry the skin out with the out-door temperature fluctuations especially depending on where you live and what activities you enjoy in your free time.

When the fall and winter months come around and the humidity drops, it makes your skin have to work a little harder to maintain proper hydration. This can lead to cracks in the outer layer of skin (microscopic) that can then lead to inflammation and loss of hydration. With that being said, you’ll want to adjust to a heavier cream at least at night, to allow your skin some extra hydration while you sleep! This goes for all skin types! Even for the oily skinned individuals, your skin still needs that extra hydration as MOISTURIZING is different than your face giving you your natural oils!

No matter the time of year, make sure you are using a good quality skin care line! I can’t stress enough that over the counter products don’t have the same proven efficacy as a physician grade line! Even if you buy products from Nordstrom, Macy’s or other high end stores/brands, it doesn’t mean that they have beneficial qualities!

-My Winter Skin Care Routine Example-

Please take into consideration, as a skin care professional I had an abundance of products and kind of choose what I am going to use daily depending on how my skin feels. I also tend to do something a little different as I choose per day depending on what my skin needs!

Morning:

-Rinse face in the shower

-Epionce Balancing Toner

-Serum (I choose between a couple different ones)

-Eye cream

-Epionce Renewal Facial Lotion

Night:

-Wash 2x (once just isn’t enough for make-up) using Epionce Gentle Foaming Cleanser

-Epionce Balancing Toner

-Serum or treatment cream (This depends on how my face is feeling each day, I still get break   outs so it will either be a serum or a tretinoin cream I use from our Becker Cosmetic line)

-Eye cream

-Renewal Facial Cream, or I will do the Enriched Firming Mask a few nights a week to give extra surge of moisture and firming!

I hope this helps anyone that can't figure their skin out!
